Walhalla acts on utility matters

After an executive session this week, Walhalla City Council authorized the construction of a water line in the vicinity of South Carolina 28 and Scenic Chevrolet for the purpose of forming a loop line in that area. The council also agreed to pursue an engineering report on providing a backup water supply to neighboring Westminster.

A man who lives near Walhalla has been arrested and charged with exposing another person to HIV—the virus that attacks a person’s immune system. Murder defendant to stand trial next week

A murder defendant goes on trial during next week’s term of Oconee General Sessions Court in Walhalla.  The prosecution plans to call the case of Shane Adam Burdette, charged with murder in 2013 of James Evan Tyner. Court opens Monday, with Judge Cordell Maddox of Anderson presiding.
