BMW announces $1B SC expansion

BMW announced today the company will expand its plant in Spartanburg County by a $1 billion investment—expected to mean 800 new jobs. The expansion includes the addition of a fifth vehicle platform at the Greer plant, the X7. Governor Haley was among state leaders joining BMW’s chairman and other car-maker officials for the announcement.

There are now 75,045 of us!

In fewer than three years’ time, Oconee’s population count has surpassed the 75 thousand mark. To be exact, that’s 75,045—a new estimate from the Census Bureau. Large drops in jobless rates

The Oconee and South Carolina jobless rates are dropping. The state’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.7% in February—from the January estimate of 6.4%.
