Trees coming down!

Walhalla began to tear down its Bradford pear trees that line a four-block area of Main Street downtown.  The tree-cutting began this morning on Main near Ann Street in front of the Walhalla Steak House.  It’s the first visible sign that Streetscape is starting.

Emails made available to County Council

As instructed by Oconee County Council, the office of County Administrator Scott Moulder has made available to the five council members unredacted emails that specifically relate to a lawsuit that challenged the county’s agriculture residential zoning classification. Library trustees meet tonight!

The regular bi-monthly meeting of the board of Oconee County library trustees takes place tonight, and everyone is invited to be present for topics that will include changes to library policies and planning for the future. Heavy fire damage to Seneca home

Seneca Fire Department assesses heavy damage to a home this morning near the 123 By-Pass. But all five occupants at 718 Evelyn Drive are OK, and all fire fighters have been accounted for.  The director of Walhalla Public Works, James Moore, has chosen Monday as the day to begin the removal of the downtown Bradford Pear trees.
