Blue Ridge holds annual meeting

A crowd estimated at five thousand took in last night’s annual membership meeting in Pickens of the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative. Blue Ridge reported that the crowd for the 74th yearly gathering numbered 2,734 members. A potential prospect for Oconee’s Golden Corner Commerce Park paid a one-hour visit yesterday. County Administrator Scott Moulder said the prospect had a look at the county’s industrial park property on highway 59, but no commitments were made.

Tractor-trailer leaks hazardous chemical

Anderson County HAZMAT responders and other emergency responders were mitigating what was described as a small leak of hydrogen chloride this morning from a tractor-trailer truck.
