Fire destroys camper

Fire fighters are trying to learn what caused a fire late this morning inside the Keowee Falls Campground. A camper found his premises on fire, but he was not hurt. The fire destroyed the camper’s unit. Responding were West Union and Walhalla fire fighters, along with personnel from county station #21.

CU worker charged in theft

Campus police say a temporary employee deposited $3,195 in checks intended for the South Carolina Botanical Garden into her personal checking account. The university announces that Meganne Alyisha Evans, 28-year old Pendleton resident, was charged yesterday with grand larceny.
