Seneca to turn to new wholesale supplier

Seneca looks downstate for a new wholesale supplier of electricity.  Word received late yesterday afternoon is that the city is recommending a contract with Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s Public Service Authority.  Seneca’s current deal with the Southern Company is expiring.  Among other suppliers considered were Southern, Duke Energy, South Carolina Electric and Gas, and the…

Fire destroys motor home

September 11, 2014

Fire during the 2 o’clock hour yesterday afternoon destroyed a motor home near Westminster.  Fire Chief Chris Smith said no one was injured.  According to Smith, the owner complained that the motor home experienced mechancial problems and he parked the vehicle to the side of the Old Seneca Road.  Fire then occurred.

Post mortem results

The Oconee coroner reports that a post mortem exam confirmed that Seneca resident Robert Hunter died early yesterday of blunt force trauma to the head and chest—when hit by a newspaper route pickup truck on South Poplar Street.
