Fire displaces Walhalla family of six

Fire burned through a Walhalla home last night, but no one was hurt. Rural Fire Control reported the fire shortly after 9 last night on Keowee Street. Alternate accommodations have had to be arranged for two adults and four children.

Second homicide case resolved today

For a second time today, the Oconee General Sessions Court accepted the guilty plea of a murder defendant to a lesser charge. Joshua Randall Ferguson this afternoon pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sent to prison for 15 years. Westminster sues its former bank

Westminster filed suit this week against the bank with which it maintained its general operating account until  four and a half years ago. The lawsuit, filed by city attorney Derek Enderlin, names First Citzens Bank and former police chief Scott Bannister as defendants.
