Kitchen fire on S. Cedar Street

A fire early last night in a Walhalla home. It turned out to be a stove fire at 103 S. Cedar Street. The fire was quickly put out around 7 o’clock and damage confined to the kitchen. No injuries reported.

Siren test this morning

Sirens around the Oconee Nuclear Station are set for a three-minute test this morning around 11:50. No public action is required. By testing the sirens, state and county officials and Duke Energy ensure the sirens are operating properly and can be used in the event of an emergency.

TVs shoplifted from Wal-Mart, arrest made

An Oconee County man, jailed in Walhalla, is accused of shoplifting two TV sets from Wal-Mart. Stanley Bernard Caldwell, 53, of the Sitton Mill Road, Seneca was booked into the detention center early Monday afternoon.
