“Pretty coincidental, isn’t it?” That’s a remark from a spokeswoman at Oconee Medical Center about the hospital’s birth rate for the last two years. In both 2011 and 2012, last year, exactly 582 babies were born in the hospital both years.

Georgia man drowns in Lake Hartwell

Authorities say a 54-year old man drowned on the Georgia side of Lake Hartwell Saturday while trying to swim back from a buoy.
