Oconee sheriff’s officers have made additional arrests in their investigation of the theft of $30 thousand worth of tools and fiber optic equipment near Seneca. You’ve heard the cry from farmers that crops need rain. Well, you don’t hear that anymore—especially in South Carolina. According to Governor Haley, enough’s enough. She visited Pendarvis Farms yesterday to survey damage caused by the excessive summer rains and talked about the need for a disaster declaration from the U-S Department of Agriculture.

Wreck in front of business

Two cars collided during the noon hour today on Seneca’s W. N. 1st Street, and one of the drivers was sent to the hospital for treatment. The police say the accident, in front of the Seneca Pawn Shop, forced them to shut down one lane of the street headed in the direction of the downtown.

Arrest made in fiber optics theft

Oconee Sheriff’s Office reports an arrest in a case of stolen fiber optics equipment. More arrests are anticipated. A 44-year old Seneca man, James Gus Orr Jr., was arrested Friday by sheriff’s officers and charged with receiving stolen goods.
