High school softball on Wednesday saw Seneca get a win over Walhalla 1-0 in the season opener. Sydney Smith gets the win on the mound going 7 innings, striking out 4 and allowing two hits. Next up, Seneca heads to Wren and Walhalla visits Belton Honea Path. Both games will be played on Friday.

Oconee Sheriff’s Department is keeping open its investigation of sex allegations made against a 20-year old man and, according to its spokesman, wants to talk to anyone who is aware of any other inappropriate conduct. Jail meeting time change

If you plan to go to next week’s meeting about the latest plans for a new Oconee jail, there’s a time change. Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the Oconee Sheriff’s Department, says Tuesday night’s meeting at the Walhalla Depot will begin one hour earlier than first announced. The new start time is 6:30 p-m.
