Missing woman OK and safe

Oconee Sheriff’s Office has ended its search for a Salem woman reported missing and not heard from for three and a half weeks. Rudi Samya Murphy was reported missing by a daughter, who filed a report with deputies Monday afternoon. Chattooga fatality identified

Yesterday’s fatality in the Chattooga River near Sandy Ford has been identified this afternoon as Ralph Neal Head. The 64-year old Head lived in Madison, Georgia. Coroner Karl Addis ruled Head’s death an accidental freshwater drowning. His is the second drowning in the river in two months and the third since July of last year.

An Oconee magistrate has reaffirmed his earlier ruling. Those gaming machines seized recently by the state police from Oconee convenience stores are to be destroyed.
