Basin officially out of the drought

Just in time for summer recreation, the Keowee-Toxaway Basin is officially “out of any drought designation.” A Duke Energy announcement this afternoon says rainfall has improved storage in the utility’s reservoirs and met other conditions in the regional drought plan. Laurens Tea Party organizer to be witness at IRS hearing

A Third District resident is on a list of witnesses for today’s congressional hearing on the IRS. Dianne Belsom was scheduled to complain that the government’s tax agency overburdened the Laurens Tea Party with paperwork and questions when the Tea Party chapter applied for tax-exempt status in 2011.
