At 8 o’clock this morning, Westminster officially welcomed Dean Awalt as its new chief of police. Clerk-Treasurer Jennifer Adams administered the oath of office to Awalt, a former Seneca policeman, to replace Scott Bannister, who had resigned. Tree recycling

Solid Waste schedule change

New Year’s Day will require a schedule change for the Oconee County Solid Waste services. According to Swain Still, the director, the county landfill will be closed Tuesday, January 1. The manned convenience centers will be closed Tuesday, January 1 and Wednesday, January 2. Normal schedule resumes Thursday, January 3.
