Georgia fire fatality identified

The fatality in the late Monday night home fire near Toccoa, Georgia has been identified as Shelvy Jean Masters Martin. She was 56 years old. WNEG in Toccoa reports Martin lost her life in a fire at her home, and the cause of that fire remains under investigation.

Kevin Davis next Chief Deputy

An Oconee Sheriff’s Department sergeant has been appointed the next chief deputy. Sheriff-elect Mike Crenshaw calls Kevin Davis “the perfect fit for (his) administration.” Davis started his law enforcement career in 1995 with the Walhalla police. The police have a suspect

Someone apparently used bolt cutters to break into two coin-operated machines this week at Seneca’s  Marathon convenience store.  But the police say they have a suspect in their active investigation of what happened yesterday at Marathon between the hours of midnight and 2 a-m.  Victimized in the crime were Lucky Phone Card Fun Zone machines.…

Cash and food theft at CU

Cash and food were stolen Sunday from a room at Clemson University’s Johnstone Hall. Now the campus police say they have charged an 18-year old freshman engineering major with felony and misdemeanor public disorderly conduct.
