Escaped prisoner captured

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Department has announced that one of two escaped prisoners is back in custody today. Detention Center inmate Jonathan Dean Moody was apprehend around noon today in a wooded area, just north of U-S 178, less than one mile from the detention center. A second inmate, Rickylee Smith, remained at large.

Seneca pedestrian accident

A Seneca man has been taken to the hospital after being hit by a car at the Miracle Circle intersection. By the 1 o’clock hour today, the police said, the injuries suffered by Christopher Lathaniel Cunningham were unknown. Drinking problem

In the opinion of a Walhalla city councilman, the city has an underage drinking problem. At last night’s council meeting, James Powell announced that, to curb the problem, the city police have asked for help from the Oconee Sheriff’s Department and the S.C. Law Enforcement Division.
