Burglary brings 15-year sentence

A plea of guilt to burglary brought a 15-year sentence today in the Oconee General Sessions Court. A court officer said the judge ordered the prison term for Tommy Joe Cooper, who pleaded guilty to five instances of burglary.

Oconee Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a 7 month old Fair Play child. Part of Coffee Road near Walhalla will be closed Wednesday. Detours signs are up for the stretch of Coffee Road from Finkenstadt Drive to  the James Brown Elementary School.  SCDOT officials are attempting to work around morning and afternoon school traffic.
