Parade Grand Marshall Yousef Mefleh

Flabbergasted is one word to describe the way a Palestinian native feels having been chosen to ride at the head of this week’s parade in Westminster to mark the annual South Carolina Apple Festival. But it is absolutely A-OK with Yousef Mefleh. Westminster is Medfleh’s adopted hometown, and it’s where he has run a Main Street restaurant for 30 years. Mefleh became a U-S citizen in 1983 and often flies the American flag outside his restaurant. The parade through downtown Westminster is this Friday afternoon, and Mefleh said he’ll be proud to help lead it. “When they told me, I though they were joking with me….But it’s an honor for me to be the head of the parade in my hometown in my own county. I love it,” he told 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
