Partners to be hands-on with trees

An organization that works toward a better Walhalla is taking a hands-on approach to lining the downtown with new trees. Dan Pollock, president of Partners for Progress, said a decision has yet to be made what type or types of trees will be planted in place of the recently-cut down Bradford Pear trees. At last night’s Partners meeting, Pollock was able to help recruit at least three of its organization members to serve as a tree-planting committee. Heading the committee will be Richard Harper. Mayor Danny Edwards says there will be at least one City Hall meeting for a general discussion of which trees to buy, and everyone will be welcomed at that meeting.
