Part of road closed after culvert wash out

Weeks after a culvert washed out near Westminster, part of a state road remains closed to traffic while the state tries to find the money for repairs.  The problem area, according to the DOT’s Michael Smith, is the Dr. John’s Road—between Tabor Road and Barrett’s Way.  A visit by the DOT’s district engineering administrator helped determine re-construction as the necessary course of action.  According to Smith, “Previous cost estimates for placing a new storm drain pipe by way of jack and bore process was around $200,000.  They are trying to secure funding through Headquarters in Columbia to make the necessary repairs.”
