Pastor-led prayer to return to city meetings

At the urging of Walhalla Councilman David Underwood, preacher-led prayer will be returned to start city council meetings. And the mayor and the rest of council last night accepted Underwood’s offer to allow him to make the arrangements to invite a different minister each time. Underwood told his colleagues that the U-S Supreme Court this week came down on the side of allowing councils and other public bodies to open their meetings with Christian prayer. By a 5 to 4 vote, the high court rejected the idea that government-sponsored prayers violate the Constitution.
