Patience required for new park signs

Oconee’s leading recruiter for economic development says his office is at work to secure the proper signs and determine the best spots to put them at two of county’s developing industrial parks. Both Golden Corner Commerce Park near Fair Play and the Oconee Industry and Technology Center on highway 11 are key pieces in the county’s quest for economic development and the jobs the development brings. But one Oconeean, questions whether the lack of the signage makes for the possibility that the county might miss out on a potential prospect. Richard Blackwell of the Oconee Economic Alliance says engineers are working to come up with a permanent sign for the highway 11 park and are conferring with the DOT as the best place for it. As for Golden Corner on highway 59, Blackwell says, an existing sign has been removed temporarily during the construction of the sewer line.
