Pay-as-you-throw an option for Oconee

Oconee planning commissioners have ideas on how to increase the county’s trash re-cycling, and one of them is pay-as-you-throw at the convenience centers.  The planning commissioners are suggesting that County Council consider five ways: Besides pay-as-you-throw, they are increasing recycling education efforts in county schools, increasing recycling at the county administrative complex, working with the cities to encourage recycling and modifying the county’s convenience centers for easier access and traffic flow.  County Councilman Wayne McCall has said he would like to see the county reach and maintain an 80 percent recycling rate.
