Peace Officers’ Memorial Day

As proclaimed by the Oconee County Council, tomorrow is Peace Officers’ Day in Oconee County. Flags at county buildings are to fly half way. A proclamation requested by Sheriff Mike Crenshaw states, “It is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their law enforcement officers, and that law enforcement officers recognize their duty to serve the people of this community, but protecting them against violence and disorder.” Peace Officers’ Memorial Day was designated by Congress and the President on May 15, 2013.
