Pennsylvania arrest has ties to Oconee

The office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General has announced the arrest of a 19-year old woman in that state on charges that she sexually assaulted a 10-year old girl, video-taped the abuse, and disseminated the recordings to others.  The arrest of Carissa Lee Vadala was announced by Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane as part of an investigation by agents with the Child Predator Section who received information from law enforcement officials in Oconee County.  According to a criminal complaint, the investigation commenced after an investigator with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Pennsylvania office of Attorney General regarding evidence recovered during a separate child pornography investigation. The evidence consisted of a video that allegedly showed a woman sexually assaulting the 10-year-old victim.  Vadala is charged with two counts each of aggravated indecent assault of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, production of child pornography, dissemination of child pornography, sexual exploitation of children and indecent assault, as well as one count each of corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal use of a communication facility.  Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, said his office and the Department of Homeland Security were part of a multi-jurisdictional investigation that included the arrest last week of Randy Quinn, Jr. of Westminster  on 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Third Degree and 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 2nd Degree .  The Pennsylvania attorney general thanked the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for their assistance with the investigation.
