Penny sales tax priority goes to Seneca library

In ranking one-cent sales tax priorities, the Oconee County Council has given top priority to building a replacement library at Seneca. The council last night assigned a number two priority to a water line in the Salem area that District Two’s Wayne McCall believes will create the potential for jobs. Approving or rejecting paying an extra penny on the sales tax will be a proposition before the voters in a countywide referendum this November. The priority rankings are considered important in the event the sales tax generates less money than anticipated. The council gave number three priority to an indoor recreation and aquatic center.
