Pickens beekeeper wins Farmer of the Year
A beekeeper from Pickens, Kerry Owen, has been named the 2016 South Carolina Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Farmer of the Year. The honor for Owen is considered by a Clemson Extension agent as a sign of South Carolina’s agricultural diversity. Owen has been a beekeeper for 17 years and raises honeybees on 26 farms. He credits the Clemson Cooperative Extension Service for providing helpful information, including beekeeping fact sheets.
