Pickup strikes building and parked car

April 13 001  Around 1:30 Saturday morning, a pickup truck crashed through a building wall in downtown Seneca. The police believe the driver then backed up, proceeded one block and hit a parked car. Later Saturday the police filed multiple charges against a 27-year old man while men worked to stabilize the damage at E. Main and N. Depot streets. Police and jail reports identify the man arrested and charged with driving under the influence and other offenses as Seneca resident Michael Todd Reid. Though small in size the damaged building has historic significance, according to Mayor Dan Alexander. It was once used as the city police station and later as the office for the Seneca Chamber of Commerce. In recent years, it has become the focal point for honoring local military veterans and is used by the police as a staging area for events at Norton-Thompson Park, such as the Memorial Day weekend Seneca Fest. Looking at the damage Saturday, Alexander expressed the hope that repairs can be made.
