Plans for Industrial Park Accelerated

A 4-0 vote by the Oconee County Council has opened the door for an industrial park for Oconee County.  The Council voted Tuesday night to contract with a North Carolina contractor to construct the first phase of the Echo Hills industrial park.  The park will be located in the Richland Community, just off highway 11.  The first phase is ahead of schedule because officials a yet to be named manufacturer could commit to the site, if the site is prepared to coincide with the manufacturer’s time table. County Administrator Scott Moulder says moving ahead with the development isn’t a guarantee that the site will be chosen, but it puts Oconee well into consideration.  Moulder says the company wants to be “up and running” by 2014.
