Plant evacuated after suspected ammonia leak

April 17, 2014

Responders say an Oconee manufacturing plant temporarily evacuated its workers today after a suspected ammonia leak. The scene was the Greenfield Industries manufacturing plant on U-S 123 between Seneca and Clemson. Chief Mike Zambito of the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department said some workers who complained of irritated eyes were examined by medics. Responders were alerted around 3:15 this morning. The plant resumed operations about 45 minutes later.
