Plea to ease off the gas pedal!

The Walhalla Streetscape contractor says there’s too much fast driving through the downtown construction zone.  Contractor Hutch ‘N Son requests Main Street drivers watch for the traffic devices which have been placed in the shape of the new islands between Ann and Catherine streets.  Yesterday the police were seen in that area with what appeared to be hand-held radar devices.  The new backup lanes continue to cause apparent confusion for some drivers.  Those backup lanes, which are marked by a solid white line, are not travel lanes.  A motorist who backs up in the lane should wait until it is safe to enter the travel lane.  Planned Streetscape work today includes electrical and water line work on the south side of Main between Catherine and Spring.  Workers will pour concrete in the driveways between Spring and Ann Streets on the North side of Main.
