Police chase makes for excitement in Walhalla

A chase by the police up and down Main Street created excitement this afternoon in downtown Walhalla. County squad cars were seen flying thru town with their sirens on—at one time headed west on Main Street, only to reverse course and go east. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said the chase started when an investigator spotted a suspect stolen vehicle and ended with officers using stop sticks to stop the vehicle and capture their suspect. He was said to have been handcuffed and taken to jail. According to Crenshaw, officers saw someone throw items out of the car. They were being retrieved as part of the investigation.
