Police chief says funds well spent

Thirty thousand dollars spent one year ago is paying off today for the Seneca Police Department, according to its chief. John Covington said the $30 thousand dollars approved by city council was enough to finish equipping all patrol vehicles with up-to-date car video/audio recording equipment and replace out-dated units. It also allowed the police to buy what Covington called state-of-the-art undercover equipment that has allowed his officers to make iron-clad cases for prosecution. Covington said, “This equipment pays for itself on a daily basis and has greatly contributed to increased guilty pleas and verdicts on cases ranging from DUI to the sale of illicit drugs.”
