Police get “leads” on store holdup

Since going public with an appeal for the public’s help, the Walhalla police have received tips on who robbed a Main Street convenience store. And Chief Ronald Wilbanks told the mayor and council last night his officers are sorting through those leads to determine whether one or more will result in the arrest of the man who last month held up the Corner Store on W. Main. Meantime, Wilbanks admitted there have been no leads received on who may have vandalized a bathroom at the nearby city swimming pool. One Walhalla officer, Captain Paul Harris, has confirmed there is an untested theory that the cement blocks in the men’s bathroom may have collapsed on their own or with help from the wear from changing temperatures.
