Police have arrested a 34 year-old man for the early Tuesday murder of a Seneca man. Jimmy Watt, Public Information Officer with the Oconee Sheriff’s Office says Shane Adam Burdette, of Westminster, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 21 year-old James Evan Tyner. Burdette is also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Watt says police arrested Burdette at around 6:00 PM, Tuesday. Police were called to 108 Mount Pleasant Road, next door to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, in the Blackjack Community, at around 7:00 AM Tuesday. There, police found the body of Tyner lying near the junction of Blackjack Road and Mount Pleasant Road, with a gunshot wound to the neck. A shotgun was found in the front yard of the aforementioned address. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says an autopsy on Tyner will be conducted on Wednesday. In the meantime, Watt says the Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation.
