Political qualifying ended today!

The books closed today for ballot candidates in two contests that’ll be part of this year’s November General Election in Oconee County. Don Stone was the only candidate for one of two seats in the Beaverdam Watershed Conservation District. An election spokeswoman said voters in selected southern Oconee County communities may fill the other seat by writing-in a candidate on November 4. There is competition for seats on the commission that sets the policy for the Keowee Fire Department. Voters within that fire district will choose among the following candidates: Donald Chamberlain, Larry Gabe, Karen Graves, Carl Halvorsen, James Henderson, and Larry Wingard.
