Pool opening sign of good times ahead!

Crowds were good for the Memorial Day weekend opening of the Walhalla Swimming Pool—the only municipal pool to be in operation this summer in Oconee County. Daryl Broome, the Foothills YMCA which, by contract, is running the pool, says crowds were goods and the swimmers returned after a couple of weekend thunderstorms. Broome says the number of swimmers, along with the many positive comments received, is an encouraging sign that points toward a successful and enjoyable full summer of swimming and recreation on Walhalla’s W. Main Street. According to Broome, the pool looks so good that even people with no interest in swimming will be impressed by the quality of work to return the pool to operation. The pool goes back to its weekend hours this weekend. But once the schools let out early next month, a daily operating schedule starts. Daily admittance fee to the pool is $3.
