Powell’s eyes widen open for 502 E. Main

If Oconee County winds up putting 502 E. Main in Walhalla on the market, realtor John Powell says he would consider acquiring the old house. Powell has a history of preserving what’s old in that particular neighborhood. A few years ago, he saved a former Methodist church parsonage from the wrecking ball, renovated it, before it was eventually sold to a family. Powell sees value in restoring old Main Street houses that sit at opposite on the east side of the four-block downtown area planned for Streetscape. “I have even talked with Mr. Dickie Moody about tearing down his flower shop and putting the old home beside him back into a residential home because that was one of the oldest homes built in Walhalla,” Powell said this morning.
