Power supplier readies for the storm

The retail power supplier Blue Ridge Electric is getting ready today for the winter storm that is expected to arrive some time tomorrow.  Though there’s still uncertainty about what we’ll get and when, the cooperative’s Terry Ballenger says his crews are mindful about the potential consequences for ice on power lines.  If it’s as much as one-quarter of inch of ice, you can expect scattered outages.  A half inch or more portends the likelihood of widespread outages that could last for a few days or longer.
