Practicing for the real thing!

June 19, 2014

Oconee Emergency Services reserved the Walhalla Municipal Swimming Pool this morning for a practice session. Grahl Haney, deputy director, says each year the personnel are put to test on their skills for water rescue and diving. It’s part of an all-day exercise. After their morning swim, the divers and the rescuers will for an afternoon on lake training. According to Haney, the training is important for a county nearly surrounded on all sides by rivers and lakes—especially important that the summer recreation season is about to swing into full gear.
