Prediction: wet spring likely

The SavannahRiver basin remains an abnormally dry place, but there is a prediction for a recovery this spring.  The Army Corps of Engineers calls attention to this week’s prediction from the national climate center for a 58% chance of El Nino conditions (wet) through the spring of 2015.  None of the models of the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration suggest a La Nina, or dry, conditions.  But, Chelsea Smith, a public affairs specialist for the corps of engineers, reminds everyone that forecasts amount to “educated guesses” and the predictions are not always realized.  They are, however, the best indicators available based on the science of meteorology.
