Prepping for the school distrrict’s next budget

On schedule last night, Oconee school trustees received some of the numbers they’ll consider for the district’s new budget, for the year beginning July 1. At their meeting next week, the trustees are scheduled to give first reading to the spending plan. According to Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent for operations, administrators are working to try to deliver a balanced budget, mindful of the sentiments of the Oconee County Council. “County Council has spoken wit us and made very clear that the only way to increase our revenue is to increase the value of the mill,” Hanvey said during last night’s work session of the trustees.
