Presbyterians decide to rebuild

A cause for the September fire that damaged the Walhalla Presbyterian Church still eludes fire fighters and the congregation. But a report from a structural engineer suggests that remaining walls of the E. Main Street church are sound. And that’s enough, according to church spokesman Thomas Alexander, for the congregation to rebuild at the existing location—instead of re-locating. “In a congregational meeting, a vote was passed overwhelmingly, if not unanimous, if there were structurally sound walls at the current building that we would do renovations…,” Alexander told 96.3/WGOG NEWS last night.
