Presents slow to come in

December 18, 2012

Organizers of Seneca’s annual “Celebrate Christmas with Heroes” are disappointed by the public’s response to this year’s effort. Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley says gifts are slow to come in. They are being collected in the back lobby of the main floor of City Hall. The deadline is the close of business Thursday, as the party for children will take place the next morning. For children 12, 13, and 14, O’Kelley says, a cash gift or a certificate is often popular. For children younger, the gift of choice is seems to be bicycles. And O’Kelley says that’s one gift that “Celebrate Christmas with Heroes” can especially use. Sgt. Lisa Williams of the Seneca Police Department is a prime organizer of the event.
