Prisoner moved from Newberry to Oconee

February 28, 2014

Casey Demario Gaines A 35-year old man has been returned to Oconee County where he faces a new charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. The Sheriff’s Office reports that Casey Demario Gaines of John Smith Road, Westminster was turned over yesterday to Oconee deputies by Newberry County deputies. He was denied a bond and remains in the Oconee jail. Gaines had been held in that county on unrelated charges. The new Oconee County charge against Gaines accuses the defendant of having sexual relations with a 10-year old girl between January and July 2004. The incidents are alleged to have occurred at a Westminster location. On February 8 this year, according to the Sheriff’s Office, Gaines was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor—with victims 11 to 14 years old and under the age of 16.
