Projected: $3 million increase in uncompensated care

Hospitals within the Greenville Hospital System have attained success in steering nearly two thousand uninsured patients into programs that focus on education and care.  Yet the cost to hospitals for uncompensated care continues to rise.  The budget for Oconee Memorial Hospital for fiscal year 2016 includes about $29 million for charity and bad debt expense.  Hunter Kome, president of the Oconee Memorial Campus, says that’s about $3 million more than last year.
