Promising prospect for Golden Corner park

With his fingers crossed, Paul Cain today expressed confidence that within the next few weeks or a couple of months an Oconee County industrial park will no longer be an empty place. Oconee’s newest and youngest county councilman told a group in Seneca that he and county leaders are confident that an announcement is imminent of the first tenant at the Golden Corner Commerce Park. And, if it works out as expected, the investment is going to make for good things for the Fair Play area—a section of Oconee that has often felt left out when it comes to the benefits of economic development. For confidentiality reasons, Cain said he is not at liberty to divulge the particulars of the potential project for it’s still premature for a public announcement. There is speculation that a code-named project for which the county is providing financial incentives is destined for the Golden Corner park on highway 59. The councilman was the guest speaker this morning for the Oconee Chamber of Commerce’s first public policy chat on issues important to the community.
