Proposed resolution before Oconee County Council

Oconee County Council has talked a lot about getting more money from the state. It now is expected to put an official request into writing. On the agenda for its meeting next week is first and final reading of a resolution that requests the state General Assembly to increase its Local Government Fund. By doing that, according to the resolution, taxpayers will be afforded to the relief they have been promised and will allow county government the ability to offer state and local government services required by state law. Tuesday night is also a deadline for the developers who want to develop the former courthouse into a boutique hotel. At its meeting, the council expects documents that confirm a lending institution’s commitment to finance the project.
