Public improvement grant for Pendleton

Pendleton and other communities across the state will benefit from funds in the latest round of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The South Carolina Department of Commerce awarded CDBG funds to 13 communities, representing more than 38 thousand residents. For the Anderson County town of Pendleton, a grant of $500 thousand may be used for the Mechanic Street Streetscape. To qualify for the grant, one of at least three objectives must be met: benefit low-and-moderate income persons; aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blighting conditions; and meet other urgent community development needs where existing conditions pose a serious or immediate threat to public health and welfare, and where other financial resources are not readily available to meet such needs.
