Public may speak on new school district budget

Everyone has an invitation to Monday’s night regular May meeting of the Oconee School Board of Trustees. It’s budget time for the men and women who make the policy for the county’s public schools, and they want to hear from you. The board has set a public hearing on its 2015-16 spending plan for the top of Monday night’s agenda. The meeting begins at 6 o’clock at district headquarters in Walhalla. During the next 12 months that begin July 1, the district plans to spend nearly $90 and a half million. Sixty-one million dollars of that is to be derived from local taxes.
